It is considered that questions are asked a person playing limit Omaha-eight-or-higher hi lo split of middle calibre and on condition that there are a few players staying to see the flop. (This doesn’t concern the zoo games)

Like in any other kind of poker in Omaha hi low split there also is bluff. And like in other form of poker the main scenario goes in pots with small number of players when between you and the roses there are only one or two players. Everyone playing poker hi low should remember the term “hand rearrangement” (literally meaning change of route). Most bet raises in eight-or-higher games and calls to these bets are made on collections of small cards including A-2 combination.

Here I continue to make overview about omaha high low strategy started in the previous post.

Allow me to make an example of hand for Low, which should be played aggressive because it has chances to win in High. You’re on the button and have AheartsKspadesQdiamonds2hearts. In preflop somebody raises, you call and the big blind player also calls. Qhearts8diamonds4spades come on the flop leaving you top pair with side ace and nut draw for Low. The player with big blind checks, a player, who raised in preflop, bets and now it is you turn to make a move. The player who raised must be having a number of small cards with A-2 combination. Game Tactics in Omaha High Low. The 1st Part

Discussing street strategy during the flop and after it one must distinguish two kinds of poker – high low and split.

In the first one a lot of players see the flop, stay in the game during it and continue to make bets. This scenario is characteristic of the games with bottom limits. Big field means that there are no tricks and no bluff. There will be a lot of players in the game wasting their money by drawing to losing cards. The more players fight for the pot the more you gain, if you win only half a pot and even in case of equal combinations with anyone of the players you win something anyway. He who knows how to create starting hands and who draws only nuts after the flop will have high chances to break the game. Read more
